Cool Cutlery

I just found these while surfing the web:

Now, you may ask why I would bother to write about something as boring as cutlery? Well, this isn’t exactly your ordinary, run of the mill cutlery…

The cool thing about them is that they are made from 80% potato starch and 20% soy oil! Which means they are, in fact, biodegradable (in 180 days according to the manufacturer). My first thought when I found this was that you were supposed to eat them after you finished your dinner or something, but somehow I don’t think they were intended for that purpose. You can even put them in the dishwasher, as they are heat resistent up to 125 degrees. The company also makes a bunch of other stuff, including:

An ice cream spoon made from corn starch

Plates made from “desugered” suger canes.

And entire meal kits, made from…well, a bunch of biodegradable stuff.
